In 2007 Joan explaines “I believe in plastic surgery. Eventually, you will look in the mirror and you will know. “I’ve had a face-lift, obviously, and my eyes done, and liposuction on my thighs – and I’ve had my nose done. Why did I do it? Why does anyone do it? Because I think it makes you feel better about yourself. This whole society is based on appearance and looking good. Her surgeon once even refuses to do more procedures for her because he feels it is already too much. “He will say ‘You don’t need anything. Go home!” Joan joked. “I wish I had a twin so I could know what I’d look like without plastic surgery”
However, Joan persists. Seeing how devoted she is in undergoing the numerous procedures of plastic surgery to her face, it becomes obvious that the reason behind her devotion is because she is unhappy about her face prior to having plastic surgery.
